How it all began…
If we’re being honest, Springsgiving came to be because we wanted to eat more turkey. And gravy. And cranberry relish. And pie. You get the picture. But, as we all know, every good holiday is based on a good story. Here is the origin story of Springsgiving as we choose to believe.
Many years ago, Turkey Tom and his family rejoiced at surviving another Thanksgiving celebration with no family members lost. Their relief was short lived when a particularly harsh winter rolled in. The family huddled together to stay warm and barely survived the long winter months. Finally, when they didn’t think their wattles would ever thaw, they felt the warmth of the sun. Spring had arrived, bringing with it a bounty of tender sweet flowers and grubs for the Turkey family to feast upon. In celebration of this spring bounty, Turkey Tom and Tiny Tina (Tom’s daughter) wanted to give thanks to the season, and all the season gave to them. Hence, the birth of Springsgiving.
Is it weird that our main characters are turkeys? And we celebrate with the eating of turkeys? Yes, yes it is. But it’s also weird that the Easter bunny brings eggs so we’re going with it. We hope that you do too.
